The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1982 in Dallas, Texas, by Nancy Brinker in memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who succumbed to breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 36. Brinker is an outstanding civic and community leader and Presidential appointee to the National Cancer Advisory Board.
