The Arboretum is managed by the Parks and Recreation Department of Los Angeles County assisted by the private, non-profit California Arboretum Foundation.
Mission
The mission of the Arboretum of Los Angeles County is to foster an awareness and appreciation of the role of plants in nature and in human affairs. This is accomplished through labelled plant collections, reference materials, and educational programs. The mission also includes preserving, displaying and interpreting historically important buildings and artifacts on the property.
Gift Shop
A gift shop on the grounds offers a selection of horticultural and botanical books, cards, seeds, etc. Living plants are offered for sale on the adjacent patio.
The Arboretum is open daily except Christmas from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Optional tram service operates daily every 20-30 minutes from 11:00 to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends. The Peacock Cafe is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Arboretum has a reference library, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a fine collection of horticultural and botanical books and journals.
