Mission
The Armenian General Benevolent Union (A.G.B.U.) is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Armenian identity and heritage through humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs.
Background
The A.G.B.U. is the most important of Armenian charity organizations throughout the world. Today it is established in over thirty countries and operates in cooperation with its 22,000 members to achieve its goals of a purely humanitarian nature.
The A.G.B.U. was founded in Cairo in 1906 by a group of eminent individuals under the guidance of Boghos Noubar Pacha.
The A.G.B.U., aware of its historical duty, has committed itself to supporting, in all ways possible, a newly independent and democratic Armenia, by creating economic institutions there, by promoting the arts and culture, and by founding the American University of Armenia, the only one in existence in the former Soviet Union, to promote education in the earthquake engineering and Master of Business Administration.
